How is Digitalisation Changing International Trade?

Digitalisation increases the scope, scale, and speed of trade while reducing search and information costs. Most importantly, it allows businesses to bring new products and services to a larger number of digitally-connected customers across the globe and is an important step in fixing global supply chains; which require explicit trust and transparency.

With an increasing number of supply chain due diligence laws coming being enacted globally, coinciding also with the UK Government preparations to pass a new Electronic Trade Documents Bill, we are seeing a proliferation of technologies that can make supply chains more transparent and better understood. Whether these tools are blockchain-based solutions, digital identity or digital signature systems, enhanced freight tracking and/or visibility systems or other technologies, digitalisation of within international trade transactions is a must.

This panel discussion looks at how digitalisation in international trade is helping to overcome some of the current hurdles faced by organizations involved in international trade, what the future of trade might look like, and invites audience participation to gather their views on the topic of stream-lining international trade processes at all levels.
